Public Works Department

The Union Territory of Puducherry comprises of four region viz, Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam and same is under the control of Chief Engineer, Public works Department, Puducherry. The PWD is involved in the infrastructure development, activities in Planning, Construction and Maintenance of Buildings, Roads, Bridges, Irrigation, Flood Control, Water supply in Yanam region. This Department is responsible for maintaining essential services to public like water supply, in Yanam region.

This Department is responsible for maintaining essential services to public like water supply, Management of Water Resources etc., The activities of the Department which is solely functioning for the betterment of the people of Yanam region, its environs and to provide more responsive and effective services to the Public and to introduce transparency.

Objectives

• Laying of New roads, maintenance and Impts.of Major roads and some of the internal roads in Yanam.
• Also construction/improvements of road side drains is being taken up.
• Operation and maintenance of drinking water supply system at Yanam town water kanakalapet, Dariyalathippa and mettacuru covering all villages in Yanam region.
• Implementation of building program needed for various department/offices in Yanam region.
