Disaster Management

A disaster is a serious disruption of the functioning of a community or a society involving widespread human, material, economical or environmental losses and impacts, which exceeds the ability of the affected community or society to cope using its own resources. Disasters can be caused by naturally occurring events, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, flooding, or tornadoes, or they can be due to man-made events, either accidental (Such as an accidental toxic spill or nuclear power plant event), or deliberately caused (Such as various terrorist bombings and poisonings).
